The Road Trip Begins 9/19/09

Leaving the barn

Hopping right in the trailer as always

Rex my buddy for the drive out & our first nights rest, lol...we stopped and made sandwiches that Suzanne sent with us and that was it. The plan was to get 6-8hrs sleep that night, but it didn't happen that way

Jubal's box stall on the road. He was absoutley perfect in the trailer! He was quiet, calm, and relaxed. He never moved while the trailer was in motion...which was about 55hrs almost straight through!

Stretching at Albaquerque for a few minutes. We were suppost to rest for 6-8hrs but missed our stop.
Okay I will update more, but for now I have to go tend to the creature before it gets dark

The Truck & Trailer...isn't it perty? We stopped for breakfast in Santa Rosa, NM to find a spot to work Jubal.

The locals pointed us toward the rodeo grounds that just happened to be in town!

We saw this as we passed by on the freeway & had to stop in for a picture. It's the world's largest cross outside of Amarillo, TX.

Working out in Vinita Oklahoma at the place we stopped for the night or atleast 4 hrs

Rex getting Jubal's home ready.
We arrived at the Horse Park monday 10:30p.m. Kentucky time.

Jubal comfortable in his new home.

Jubal on his first outing at the horse park Tuesday morning. Perfect horse, Perfect weather, Perfect countryside!

Pulling into the Kentucky horse park this morning (wen. 9/23) It's so beautiful!
Okay I got to go work the boy out, hope you’re enjoying the page.

This is to give you an idea of how big our class is. There are 27 horses pictured...the amount in Jubal's & my class.

Here we are working in the indoor arena that was pictured above. This is the arena that will be used during the FEI World Equestrian games 2010. It is climate controlled and you are not allowed to leave manure any where! <~ Go figure..isn't this a horse facility?"
It’s my birthday and I’m going to a barn party this evening…and perhaps a horse auction.?. Yes, I already found a place to buy more creatures ::hehe:: Don’t worry I’m sure they are out of my price range…I hear they go for 1/2 mil. ~Tootals~
I forgot to tell you all the class starts at 12:00 KY time Friday 9/25 (9:00 CA time) and our time to go is 12:25 with awards at 2:25. We are in ring 2 (which I think has the better panel of judges). Click Here for the link to the live video. We are in the Covered Arena! Yes you have to register with the website to view the video, it’s free.
Alright, well what a disappointing day ::ugh:: Will get the video posted so all can see my misery, lol. It’s uploading onto youtube as we speak. He has been perfect this whole trip, have worked him twice a day in all the different arenas and even warming up this morning he was great! Coming into the ring he was calm as usual and set up nicely and as judged asked “how old” I proudly said “3″ as my colt was behaving quite nicely and then as you can see on the video something caught his attention..or..? I dunno, but he was an Idiot!
Even once we got out of the show ring he was calm again and I had people video me out there and they commented at how well behaved he was ::ugh:: again. Then as I was looking at the posted scores I had a gentleman come up to me that said…”They lose as big as they win” and I said “did you see my colt go” he replied “no, but I know he would’ve won” ::ugh:: again. Yeah, the scores to get into the top ten were not that spectacular and we should’ve easily made that and had a run at the top ::ugh:: again. Anyway, it is what it is and the judges were very leniant on there scoring of us.

This is us out in the warm-up after the class...

Us standing quietly after the class.

Jubal snoozing in his stall after his big debut...dreaming of his next show
This is Photo Shoot #2 on Saturday 9/26 the day after the show…

Do we look like each other or what?

Same expression?

I got to meet my favorite race horse...CIGAR! How fun

Cigar

Patty my helper & photographer
along the way home

Loading up. Patty filling Jubal's water to begin the trip back home.

Jubal tearing it up in Big Cabin, Oklahoma on 9/28. I guess he had enough of a 10x10 stall...he probably ran for about an hour. Though as you can see he had his contained moments.

Contained in Oklahoma

Where we stayed in Oklahoma on a 1000 acre ranch.

Jubal trotting easy in Amarillo, TX on 9/29 before our trek to AZ.

Some where in New Mexico 9/29

Working out this morning 9/30 in Flagstaff, AZ before the last leg of our journey home. It sure was a gorgeous morning up there after it had rained that night. Oh, and we got to hear an elk out there last night...how cool is that.?.

Beautiful Flagstaff
I had the most absolutely fabulous time and want to thank EVERYONE who got us there and back safely!! It was an amazing journey start to finish and what a grand experience you all allowed us to have!

Thanks Wendy! I am having a great trip

Well so far the judges has been very difficult. I got to talk to some people last night, while schooling Jubal, that had already shown and they informed me that the one judge is scoring 20% lower than the other judge on the one panel, but they say the other judges are more accurate for what they have been scoring all year long. Checked out the scores this morning and I still feel pretty good about Jubal doing well. Scores range from 50%-75% and Jubal has been consistantly in the mid 70′s with plenty of room to improve for Friday’s score.

We enjoyed watching the utube video, but wish Jubal had stayed together better to show his talent. You will have to explain the scoring and what he got the next time you are out. ENJOY the trip and experience anyway. Prayers for safe journey HOME. In Jesus, June

Jubal obviously wants to remain the best kept secret at Pembleton Farms! Lisa, you handled him beautifully. We are so proud of your accomplishment getting him there!
September 27, 2009 at 9:25 am |
You kepy your cool under fire! You should be proud of yourself. I am proud of you. I think the high pitched violin music bothered him. He acted up every time a particular musical phrase played. I have even more confidence in you as a trainer because you handled him and yourself so well and did not let your frustration get the better of you!
It is an honor just to make it to the finals, and I am thrilled to have been a small part of it.

Just found the blog with all these pics and video. You and Jubal looked great out in the ring. I will be praying you have a safe trip back. BTW I think you have the same b-day as Joe. Happy Birthday a little late.

Howdy Fran!
The barn party was very nice and lotsa fun…good food ::hehe:: didn’t stay too long as I wanted to get a good nights rest for the “big day”.
Seriously he was almost going to be a KY lawn ornament, lol.

September 30, 2009 at 10:23 am |
Well it was your first adventure together. I think Jubal just had to show some spunk, only at the wrong time UGH!. Well hopefully your will be back safe and sound this afternoon or evening. Did you meet any guys?
September 30, 2009 at 8:41 pm |
No guys worth keeping, lol…I barely kept the one I brought with me
September 30, 2009 at 8:34 pm |
Awh! Thanks everybody for your support through our showing issue! It was the most fabulous trip and had the best time ever…except of course the only thing that would have made it the greatest trip ever would’ve been being able to truely show him off! You’re “after showing” comments make me ::smile::
thanks!!

I’m glad that the trip out and back went smooth. Patty said she had a lot of fun sharing the trip with you. What is the next major event?
October 25, 2009 at 9:03 pm |
I think the next major event for Jubal & me is going to be the Scottsdale Arabian show in February. That is if I’m still here / in the country

Lisa, I loved watching your horseman (woman) ship skills out there when Jubal was doing his dance. You did a fantastic job giving him what he needed at the time. I would have been a nervous wreck. We are sorry he picked that time though, overall what a great experience. We are so glade you both got to go.. And you made it home safe. Thank you for the pictures and video – sharing your experience with us all. It sure made us feel apart of the journey.
We Love You.
